TWO POEMS TO CAROLINE
Your letter made me cry, today,
And sigh a happy sigh, today,
And 'though I couldn't say, today,
You made it all OK, today!
Your letter made me smile, today,
Made it all worthwhile, today,
And though you're many miles away,
I lived my life in style, today.

If Access takes the wanting from the waiting,
Could I buy you with my credit card?
I'd give up drinking, smoking, overspending,
And pay the debt by working twice as hard.
If Access takes the waiting out of wanting,
Just for a moment, would some plastic do?
I'd pay all the hidden charges and undaunting,
Pay interest on the debt I owe for you.
