BAVIN'S POETRY PAGE

Welcome to my Web !

But first a health warning: If you are one of those that cares not a jot that your poetry neither rhymes nor scans, it may be that you should click on 'Exit' , quick - this is not the page for you. Then again, if you are a stickler for strict rhyme and meter, perhaps you should be prepared to be disappointed, too. It was Somerset Maughan who said, 'There are three fundamental rules to writing: The only trouble is that no one can remember what they are.' Should poetry - should any art - be constrained by rules? On the other hand, is this liberation, so abundant today, being used as an excuse for what is just ill conceived, sloppy work?

Click 'My Shout' if you want to read my views. If you have a point of view, then please stay and say it in my 'Visitors Book' - I'll welcome that. And, if you don't then, go on, flatter me: Click on 'Contents'.
